About

It started in 2009. I was going to change the world.

And nearly four years later, I finished my stint as a volunteer.  I never realized how hard it would be, how utterly unprepared I was, as I naively moved to a new continent, alone.

But I have risen from the situation, not unscathed, but I am a changed person. And through it all, my love for Africa has not waned. In fact, it has grown.

Africa has taken a hold of me. And my desire to be intimately involved in something bigger than myself is tangible.

It’s 2013, and I am back in Canada, and finding my way through yoga, holistic health, and wine.

Follow me as I share stories of culture, yoga and life.

hey sheila – just browsing your site here – I get to pray for you this morning at Imago – just read your Nov update that Robb sent me, now looking here.
So we’re thinking of you this morning at SAC and praying God’s blessing and annointing on you for the work that he has called you to. Thanks for being there as an extension of our faith community.
Myra and I are great fans of Alexander McCall-Smith’s series No 1 Detective Agency! So fun.

Ron – thank you so much for your prayers! It means so much to me that Southview is praying! God has been faithful so far and I pray that I can continue to trust in Him. I will definately keep you and Myra updated 🙂

Hey, as your former boss in the secular business world, I can tell you about a million things you did that mattered! The best one, of course, being that you unknowingly inspired me to find my way back to Jesus and church. I’ve even belonged to a ladies’ bible study for the past three years (trying to get a handle on some of my challenges with the Bible). He very definitely sent you to me, or led me to you, since technically you were at “the job that shan’t be named” first. I’m not saying I’m a shining light or anything, but it just goes to show that God can soften the heart of even the most evil of tyrants 😉
